Sitting up!
Yes, the day has finally come: Mac can now sit up and play all by himself! What a big boy he is. Here is a short video of him demonstrating his sitting skills, and another video of him demonstrating his cuteness skills. The Lord is taking such wonderful care of this little guy!

Oatmeal Bombs
Today was one of those days where messes happened everywhere we went. (I never thought I would have to figure out how to get poop out of the CHEST straps and clips of the car seat...). We ended the night with messy fun and I caught some video footage of a happy boy.
The nightly oatmeal eating was getting so messy that it seemed like globs of oatmeal were dive bombing the table and everything near us. I started making bombing noises and Mac thought they were hilarious.

How Mac Does Tummy Time
Ok, so I thought this was really cute...I know it's probably just because I am his mom, but I thought Mac's method of tummy time entertainment was really funny!

Mac's New Toy
We went to a big consignment sale yesterday and Mac got a new toy. He really likes it! Here are some videos of him playing in it. It was so funny seeing him surprised by the "peekaboo" apple!

Mommy's Little Charmer
Cute story: Tonight I was tucking Mac into bed for the night, and he was just looking off into space sleepily as he sucked on his pacifier. After saying our good-night prayers, I thought maybe the blanket was a little tight. I poked my hand in from the bottom of the blanket to see if his arm could move, and I ended up touching his little fingers. All of the sudden he started giggling and laughing. I touched his fingers again and he laughed and laughed even harder. By now I was laughing more than him, and we just had the best time together. He sure knows how to charm his mommy!

Surprise!
No, there's no big surprise to announce in this post (I know what you are thinking Ames - and there is not another little Johns on the way yet!) It's just that Mac has been looking surprised in a lot of his pictures lately. Here's a peek at them:

A glimpse of the joy ahead
I never really was a baby person...I guess I was too interested in sports and other crazy things. When little Macky arrived, I had no idea how much of a roller coaster ride it would be, and it seemed for a while that I was stuck at the bottom of the ride! Praise God, because He has kept Mac happy and healthy and has revealed His grace to me in ways I would never know apart from the struggles that I have had being a new mommy these last few months.
Yesterday Mac was extra fussy after getting his shots, and it turned out to be a wonderful blessing because I took more time to cuddle with and rock him and sing to him than usual. As he began to calm down, he looked right up at me and cooed and hummed along with me contentedly as I sang to him. Tears came to my eyes as I realized what a precious little boy he is and how blessed I am to have such moments with him. Even today, when he pooped through all of his clothes (and mine) while I was feeding him, he had the most infectious smile and giggles. How could I be upset when he was just so cute? I know that I am just getting a glimpse of the joy that God has planned ahead for us in raising little Mac.

A Growing Boy
We have a growing boy on our hands! It seems like just yesterday little Mac was wearing the cute little new born size clothes, but just yesterday I had to move him up to the 3-6 month sizes! (Note: he is only 8 weeks old!) Here are some pictures and a video to show you what he has been up to:
Here's Mac with his new outfit!
Below we have a couple of videos of Mac enjoying his latest toys (sorry that the video quality is not the best - I took them with our regular old camera!)

Almost 6! (weeks)
Congratulations Mac! You made it to 6 weeks old! Let's look at some pictures to remember your last couple of weeks.
Here is a video of you to remember when you are older:
And here you are next to your future best friend. Aunt Amy is holding you next to him and you will get to meet him in Ocotober!
You also love going for rides with daddy in your new stroller. It's called the "Chariot" and daddy can't wait until you are old enough to attach this to a bike!
