I know that look

As soon as I saw this picture of Ellis I was amazed. This is the exact same look that I see in Mac's eyes when he is concentrating on something and learning something new. Only a mother who has spent countless hours staring at her son's expressions would recognize this, but trust me: it's the same!

It's so cool to see how much he is like his daddy already.

Shower Scripture

I have recently been encouraged to get back into memorizing scripture. This has been one of my joys for much of my life, but since Mac was born I have pretty much been spending all of my brain power just to breathe, figure out a way to get sleep, etc.

I was thinking of ways to have scripture passages around the house for me to think about, and I thought that the shower would be a good place since it's one of the rare places of peace and quiet (on the rare occasions that I actually shower these days...sorry, TMI).

I mentioned this to Ellis, and I thought it was a good idea, but it would only last until the verses got soggy. He said, "oh, that's why you put it in a plastic bag. You can hang it from the showerhead and turn it and change the verses." Man! Good thinking! Here's a picture of our "shower scripture." (Notice the trademark "Johns" touch of using a bungee cord).

*note: Psalm 19 is in there now.

Bathtime!

I asked Ellis if he could start Mac's bath for him the other night. Mac just got some of those foam letters that can stick to the wall and the tub, and I came upstairs to see that Ellis was having more fun playing with them than Mac! You can see why by the pictures:

It's On!

Just having a little fun with the picasa video program - a little rough and out of focus, but still might make you smile. (p.s. Watch with your sound on).

Funny Boy

Little Mac is so funny. I wish that my eyes could record video and take pictures because I see so many cute and hilarious things every day that he does. Some things that I see that make me crazy now would probably make me laugh if I looked at them again years from now.

Our camera is terrible, and only works for 5 minutes before draining new batteries, so I hardly ever get footage and photos of him. Well, with that said, here are a couple funny and cute things:

Verse for 2010

I (Amanda) have been studying 1 and 2 Thessalonians for a while now. Hey, maybe they are some of the shortest books of the Bible, but it has taken me practically a year and I am only halfway through! So much good stuff.

Anyway, I finally made it to 2 Thess. 1, and I was amazed by what I read in verses 11-12. So why not make them the "verses of 2010?" Best part of the verses? The focus is on God's power to get things done, and NOT on what I usually focus on, which is striving on my own strength (always backfires, by the way).

Man, can you imagine how awesome it would be for Paul's prayer in these verses to be answered in our lives? The end result is the Lord Jesus being glorified, and not what I usually try to glorify, which is me (also results in lots of backfiring).

This verse gives me hope that God can use me somehow this year.

11With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. 12We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ."
