Lego Technic

A couple of weeks ago, Mac told me he wanted learn how to make motorized lego technic creations. My first thought was to buy him a few sets so that he could learn how these new pieces fit together.

He insisted on looking on Amazon and Ebay for various bags of parts so that he could totally "make his own inventions."

For the past few days, he has been trying to build a car that would move forward. There has been lots excitement matched with frustration and disappointment over countless failures.

FINALLY, this morning, when I woke up, Mac could not wait to show me that he made a car that "actually worked!"

I was absolutely shocked and so happy for him! I wish I would have taken pictures/videos of all of the other attempts to document just how incredibly far he came in just a couple of days!

Great job Mac!

P.S. Here is photo that came across my Facebook feed a few days ago...one of Mac's very first inventions: A "spelunger machine."

David and Abby

We went to the Children's Museum in Harrisonburg last week. David and Abigail thoroughly enjoyed the dentist section, the face painting/dress up section, and the vehicles section!

Only 88 More Days

Corrie informed me that there are only 88 more days for her to complete her Halloween costume for this year. Here is the progress she has made so far. The cup on the head of her "dinosaur" is where the candy will go!

David's Army Men

I got David four packs of army men and vehicles from the dollar store a couple of weeks ago. He loves setting up elaborate scenes spanning multiple rooms of the house and staging imaginary battles. I love this part of his personality! He reminds me of my brother, Jeremy, at this age.

Bike Riding Adventure

Yesterday we went on a biking adventure through a wooded, blackberry laden path to a quiet street up the hill from our house. It was a very hot, gnat infested situation, so we kept the ride short. But it was also really beautiful and fun.

3D Printing & Computer Classes

Ellis set up two computers in his office space in the garage so that Mac and Corrie can learn 3D printing and computer coding. It's really fun!

The Usual

The other day I was looking for a pencil, and all I could find were a bunch of long sticks made up of seemingly every good pencil we have taped together.

Apparently, Mac had noticed "his favorite blue marble that has been missing for years" under the stove, so he and Corrie set up an operation to extract the marble, along with many other forgotten treasures.

Thursday Afternoons

On Thursdays Mac and Corrie are at their science co-op for a few hours. Abigail is usually napping, which leaves time for me and David to spend together.

He often asks, "Mommy, can I play on the bed while you read your Bible?"

She's been pretty happy up there for a while!
