Quote of the Day

Last week a friend let us borrow her Bible felt board set for a little while. So far we have done two stories from Creation using the various felt pieces. Ellis and I are having flashbacks to Sunday school classes from long ago. It's been sweet seeing how much the kids still love it, even in this age of so much fancy technology. I am glad some things haven't changed. :)

Today I sent Mac and Corrie inside from riding bikes to get cleaned up before lunch. When Davey and I came in, Mac was in the living room playing with cars, but Corrie was nowhere to be found. I called for Corrie several times, but there was no answer. I started to get worried. Was she okay?

I started to walk down the hallway to look for her, and she came out of our room.

"Corrie! I was worried about you! Please answer me when I call for you! What were you doing?"

She looked at me with a matter-of-fact expression and gestured with her hand to accentuate her point. She said,

"Sorry Mama, I was just creating the world."

*Side Note: I love looking at this picture and seeing so much of Corrie in it. She had a reason for placing every felt piece in a specific spot. It's so cute that the baby bear is riding on his mama, and the lions are in the tree "so they can see better."

Soccer Shots

This Spring we signed Mac and Corrie up for a community soccer program called "Soccer Shots." It was pretty low-key...just one day a week for about 45 minutes. It was just right for them, and it was pretty cute watching them!

Once again, the kids' individual personalities shone through. Mac, (so much like his Mama), aimed to please his coach and was hard on himself when he made a mistake. He loved all of the social interaction and especially the prizes and stickers.

Corrie, on the other hand, was content just going with the flow. Her little feet were so tiny compared to the big ball, and everything she did was so dainty. The first day the coach asked the kids to dribble across the practice area, and it took Corrie forever with her tiny little kicks! That night before bed when I asked the kids about their day, Corrie said, "Dribbling the soccer ball was really hard for me today....but I'm still happy!"

While watching the kids, I noticed that Corrie was often in her own little world. If the team was scrimmaging, she would be sitting in the goal picking flowers or twirling around in circles doing a "princess dance." I took the picture below and laughed when I zoomed in to see Corrie!

It's been fun watching the World Cup this summer, and Mac and Corrie love to show off their "super soccer kicks" that they learned this Spring!

The Pool at the Rocke Inn

This month we've been to our fair share of "fancy hotels," as the kids would say. The kid's baseline judging a hotel "fancy" is if it has a carpet and coffee stirrers. My baseline is if it does not have bedbugs.

Anyway, so far none have compared to the extravagance and luxury of the popular Rocke Inn and Suites of Durham, NC. Food and entertainment are included in the nicely priced deal. And who can compete with the amazing pool and such sweet little guys to be with?
