Whistling Woods

Here is a picture of the side of our yard, right near our carport. There is a hill and lots of trees and vegetation at the top of the hill. If you look closely, you will see that a little worn patch of dirt has been cleared...just big enough for a little boy to sit in.

One day I found Mac there, just sitting there...and he was so content. The other day he told me he was going to the "Whistling Woods," and began walking up the hill to his little sanctuary. He tripped over some sticks and I heard, "Oh no! Mac fall down in the Whistling Woods!" How did the spot next to our house get named the Whistling Woods? :)

Monkey Joe's

Here's Corrie in a giant inflatable jumping apparatus. Wish you could have seen her giggling and flopping around. I would include a picture of Mac, but as you can imagine, when I was lucky enough to get him the frame for a picture, he was just a blur.

Special Treat

I know some people will look at this and think, "what is she thinking!" Giving these kids pudding and spoons is a guaranteed disaster. Well, whoever thinks that is absolutely right. Mommy had a huge mess to clean up when this was all over, but at least I got a bib on Mac this time.

Special Delivery Boy

Just dropping off some chicken pot pie to one of our favorite new neighbors.

Mac

Mac. How can I describe what it is like to be your mom? Well, I can tell you that you have brought me closer the Lord. When you came home from the hospital, I had no clue (other than reading a book, which arguably did more harm than good) what to do or how to take care of you. What I did have was the Lord. He kept you safe and healthy and by His provision, you thrived.

Now you are two...almost three!!!! And you know what? It is still the Lord who gets all the credit for your maturation from an infant to an expressive toddler. Though not for the same reasons, just like the night I brought you home from the hospital, there are many times when I am literally on my knees praying for the Lord to show me just what you need and for wisdom to be a godly mommy for you. The Lord has created you with a strong will, and I know that even though it causes me to have some sore knees now, it will be your greatest strength.

As you have grown and I have struggled, I have seen the Lord develop you into such a fun little friend. You are starting to talk more intelligibly, and now we are finally hearing an explanation for the myriad of expressions we have been observing over the past few years. What were once chubby (emphasis on chubby) little baby feet are now strong little boy looking feet. I was so amazed at what God had made when He brought you us, and I am still amazed by how God has grown you.

Little Mac, I just want to tell you that your mommy loves you.

Quoted.

Today I overheard Mac talking to his chocolate milk (very sternly).

He said "No spit in Mac's eye chocot melk! No spit Mac's eye in the head!"

Corrie's 1st day in the snow!

This morning we woke up (Mac at 6am...) and looked out the window to see snow! This was the first time Mac has been excited about it (I think he saw plenty of TV shows with snow in them this Christmas). We put on the snowsuits (Mac's way too small, Corrie's way too big) and out we went!

Mac was running right out of the gate!

Corrie was happy too! (When she wasn't lying face down in the snow)

We didn't have sleds, but cardboard boxes worked fine

Mac ate plenty of snow
