"I will give to the LORD the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, the Most High." (Psalm 7:17 ESV)Last night I was reading Psalms 6 and 7 before I went to sleep, and this last verse in Psalm 7 really stood out to me: Is there any other God that people just joyously shout and sing praises to? I cannot think of a single one!
If you know God, you know the joy that comes from knowing Him and serving Him. What other religion/god elicits this spontaneous praise just because of who he is?
The new age "god" is distant and unknowable in a personal way, hindu gods must constantly be appeased for fear of punishment and the muslim life is a balancing act of hoping that your good deeds outweigh your bad...but where is the peace and joy that you see reflected in those who know God and in the scriptures of the Bible? I know I am grossly oversimplifying other religions...I am just speaking my thoughts out loud. What a privilege it is to know and worship the God who is like no other. Please Lord, do not let me take my joy in praising You for granted!
