Here we were, one year ago, ready to head out the door to the graduation. I guess one thing that didn't change between last year and this year was that it was still the three of us attending the event together! (Davey was just a little more cozy and easier to take along last year).
When we got to our table at the Front Royal County Club yesterday, I was struck by the beautiful view and thought it would be nice to get a picture on the balcony. Thank you Ellis, for being so willing to take pictures! (Not his favorite thing)
That last picture reminded me of some of the very first pictures that Ellis and I ever took together. That expression on Ellis' face is almost exactly the same as the one he had in the very first picture we ever took together. Hopefully I will be able to find it soon and record it here in our digital scrapbook.
Davey had a rough day yesterday. The combination of church and the graduation left him pretty much napless...not the best recipe for a happy little guy! But he did love being with Ellis, and I think he was pretty proud of his daddy officially becoming a senior resident.
And we did eventually manage to get about 10 minutes of sleep out of the little guy. Love his little feet!
And a couple side notes: Davey is officially out of the "bouncer" stage. I think he's been out of it for a while, but I have not wanted to move on. The other day Ellis remarked, "didn't his back used to be up in the air in that thing?" (Instead of "bouncing" his body is pretty much laying on the ground).
So this morning I tried a new way to keep him happy during my special time with God before Mac and Corrie were up. The walker idea was good in theory (okay, maybe not), but I am definitely going to need a rope or something to keep him from walking right off down the hill into the street!
As for Mac, the other week he found a blue bouncy ball at the park (for him, going to the park is just an opportunity to search for "treasures" of various kinds). He decided that he had found "planet earth." We went to the doctor that day, and he found a paper clip, which he decided was a way to hold planet earth. When we got home Corrie said, "It's Saturn!" (referring to the "ring" around it). Can you believe that girl?
Here's Mac admiring his planet at the Dr.'s office. This was the best picture I could get, as he would not stand still, of course.
And Corrie has been admiring her new friend this morning: It's our first yellow squash from the garden. She named it "Gus Gus."
